Welcome to the Portraits by Jake Blog!

Hey everyone! I’m Jake, the photographer behind Portraits by Jake — a new portrait photography business based here in Dallas. I recently launched my website, portraitsbyjake.com, and I’m so excited to start sharing my journey with you!

This blog is a place where I’ll post once a week about all things photography — from behind-the-scenes looks at my latest shoots, to tips for clients getting ready for their sessions, to advice and lessons I’m learning as I grow my business. Whether you’re a client looking to prepare for your session or a fellow photographer wanting to improve your craft, there’ll be something here for you!

Since I’m still building my portfolio, I’ll be sharing photos from my first few shoots and talking about what went into them — from choosing locations and outfits to editing styles and natural posing. You’ll also get a look at my favorite gear, editing tools, and the creative process behind each photo.
